From the eastwards mountains to the eastwards Rivage, along the Rhone River, the verdant Haut-Vivarais plateaux, cut by rivers, are shaped in terraces. As the altitude rises, chestnut trees, orchards, fields of potatoes, cereals and vines give way to softwood forests, meadows and pastures where cows are set free to graze. In autumn, the landscape is colored with yellow, red and green.
On the long "balcony" over the Rhone grow the most prestigious vineyards of Northern Côtes du Rhône : Saint-Joseph , Cornas, Saint-Peray all AOC wines...
In the north, the average Pilat mountain is home to an amazing fauna and flora preserved by a regional natural park. Beeches, fir trees, fishbearing streams and high pastures form the landscape...
The country boasts a rich heritage: red granite or basalt farms with roofs of lauze, splendid castles, beautiful towers, hanging gardens, amazing fortifications and surprising churches...
